Abstract:	The article deals with the views of contemporary Ukrainian historiography on the plans of Napoleon’s government, concerning the southwest provinces of the Russian empire. It is notified, that during the last years, the national historiography has enriched oneself with new studies, where there is a new look given to different aspects of the war of the year 1812.
